Tube for retention of queens during tagging, "Flaubert"

For beekeepers who put labels on the queen bee there is a special device - Flaubert. This is a special tube for reliable retention of the uterus for the time of gluing (or drawing) a label. The queen bee is placed in the middle of the glass tube and with the help of a wooden piston is directed to the grid at the end of the tube. Soft covering of the piston made of foam rubber allows to avoid trauma of the uterus. The uterus is pressed by the piston against the grid and fixed securely for the time of labeling. The grid has cells of sufficient size for marking with a marker or gluing an opal mark.

Due to their ease of use, beekeepers often use the Flaubert tube to isolate the uterus for a while while inspecting the beehive in the apiary.

It is especially convenient to use Flaubert for marking a young (or barren) uterus. These uterus are quite mobile and keep them with your fingers and without damaging it is sometimes quite difficult. Also for a beginner beekeeper this tube will be indispensable and will avoid many problems with loss of the uterus during the labeling process.
